Norway's heavy duty 330 squadron choose LESS for being lightweight

Within air ambulance services, weight is a critical issue. When Norway's 330 squadron wanted to reduce their overall weight in their helicopters, heavy rescue gear was removed and replaced with LESS Light Emergency Stretcher System. A new backrest is being developed in order to make LESS stretchers suitable in all conditions.

LESS gets Design award nomination
We are proud to announce that LESS AS, by the Norwegian Design Council has been won the Norwegian Award for Design Excellence 2007.
Among 152 applications this year, 37 products have been awarded this Award for Design Excellence. This award is given jointly to the company LESS and the collaborating industrial design company K8 (www.k8.no ). Further more LESS is among the 4 finalists nominated for the highest award within Norwegian design: the Honours Award for Design Excellence, that will be handed over on the Design Day march 15th.
"The Award for Design Excellence is a recognition for design quality and a visible proof that companies and designers jointly have developed a good product. Good products are distinguished by the consideration of it's functional, technical, economical and aesthetical aspects, in addition to marketing and environmental considerations." The Norwegian Design Council.
LESS (Light Emergency Stretcher Systems) have together with K8 industrial design developed a unique life saving system, that focuses on antihypothermia and patient comfort, as well as making a versatile logistics tool that will work in most environments and situations.
The LESS stretcher is designed to transport patients from the scene of an accident to ambulance to medical imaging.
The stretcher's innovative composition provides a high degree of thermal insualtion to hel reduce the risk of hypothermia. Further features of this construction are radio-translucency to medical imaging equipment (x-ray CT, MRI scanning), easily disinfected surfaces and good buoyancy.
LESS stretchers are rigid, lightwieight (5kg), and stackable. They are ideal for patient evacuation over difficult terrain, multiple casualties and major incident planning.
